Educational Workshops
Trade associations like IDSA (Industrial Design Society of America), high-school students, undergraduate students, and graduate students have all found that time spent with Jim can re-focus, re-inspire and re-dedicate them. The workshops are approximately three to fours hours and are highly interactive and motivational.
Several schools across the country have secured sponsorships from boosters or supporting companies to fully or partially underwrite the workshop. Other schools have the students pay for the workshops individually.
The JD Orr Project offers two formats of educational workshops - One-on-one studio workshops for smaller groups and group-style workshops to accommodate larger audiences.
One-on-one Studio Workshops
Jim Orr will conduct a highly motivational drawing demonstration the students will never forget. The educational workshops feature hands-on activities and one-on-one instruction with your students. Jim can focus on an area of study that coordinates with current programming, but generally covers his curriculum of "Drawing in Dynamic Perspective", "Rapid Visualization", and "Marker Rendering". These sessions are accelerated, high-energy sessions designed to Inspire Creative Confidence, and to encourage young, talented art-oriented students to pursue careers in design. At your preference, the workshops can be held during school hours or on a Saturday.
(Studio pricing includes basic materials required for the workshop for each student. Travel expenses are additional if school is located outside of a 50 mile radius of the Columbus, Ohio outer belt.)
Group-style Workshop
Jim Orr will visit your school and bring his high-energy approach to your small auditorium. Using A/V support, Jim will walk students through the same instructional format as described in the Studio Workshop format above. Even though students do not get the one-on-one instruction, the presentation is adapted to interact with select students, as well as field questions and concerns from the group. Jim's message Inspires Creative Confidence and encourages young artistic students to pursue careers in design.
(In order to maintain the desired atmosphere, The JD Orr Project limits Theater-Style Workshops to a maximum of 100 students. Site to provide camera with feed to LCD projector and screen. Travel expenses are additional if school is located outside of a 50 mile radius of the Columbus, Ohio outer belt.)
